It has been another productive month in the Kidby household, the Discworld football cards are almost completed now (all 20 designs).  It has been a fun project to work on and I enjoyed taking the liberty of adding a couple of unlikely substitutes to the team…

The cards will be launched alongside the new Discworld novel, ‘Unseen Academicals’ in early October at an inaugural football match in Wincanton.

I have also taken some cultural time out by visiting the ‘Truth About Faeries’ exhibition in Southampton, which includes work by Arthur Rackam, Alan Lee, Brian Froud, Patrick Woodroffe and the creator of the ‘Flower Fairies’ Cicely Mary Barker.  I recommend a visit if you are the South of England over the summer.  I always find it a great stimulus and kick up the proverbial backside to look at original artwork by other artists.

Micro Art continues to model the characters of Discworld from my drawings, July has seen the sculpting of Carrot, Angua and Cheery Littlebottom.  This tiny army of fantastical characters has ideas of world domination, and will soon be available in France and Spain to accompany the Discworld Roleplaying Game.

I have also completed the 5 new illustrations for ‘Wyrd Sisters’ and ‘Sorcery’ commissioned by Czech publishers Talpress, here is the Duke and Lady Felmet from ‘Wyrd Sisters’…

I am now enjoying painting the fifth animal from my Mythical Beast series, Pegasus.

Wishing you all happy summer holidays with no wasps in your jam,
