Well, it's been full on festivities in the Kidby household and the season of goodwill has seen the usual scoffing of Quality Street , drinking of unusual liqueurs and not to mention some ferocious card games.
Now, feeling sated and somewhat heavier, my attention returns to the drawing board. Upcoming projects beckon and I am keen to get cracking…
The final days of the year saw us bidding a fond farewell to Eko the Elephant who had become an honoury member of our family for the past weeks. We are looking forward to visiting him in Hyde Park next summer. It is a real privilege to be part of London 's Elephant Parade and I thank The Orangutan Foundation for involving me.

Atlantia the bronze mermaid made her debut at the Mall Galleries before Christmas, and it was a relief to see her safely finished and spinning gently on her stand.
At the moment I am busy creating new cover artwork for the Discword books, ‘Wee Free Men', ‘Hat Full of Sky' & ‘Wintersmith'. I have a very tight deadline so it's a chance to practise my main New Years Resolution: GET FASTER AT DRAWING! Here is my preliminary sketch for ‘Wintersmith'…

Following their Faerie Exhibition with fellow artists Erlé, Florence Magnin and Guillermo Gonzalez, Gallery Daniel Maghen has released a collection of my originals to view on their website.
All that remains for me now is to wish you all a wonderful and happy 2010
It's going to be a punishing schedule in the Kidby studio, but I'm definitely up for it. Keep watching this space….
