Paul Kidby News Update – April 2011

My sculpting outburst has continued this past month and I am now in the final stages of modelling Pegasus who is almost ready to be delivered to Sculpture Castings foundry in Basingstoke. The skilled staff there are currently busy producing bronzes of Nemesis the griffin 11 & 12, the final numbers in the edition, and no.1 of Celeste the hare who will be exhibited for the first time at Harrogate at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the final visuals for the cover of Sir T.P's ‘ Snuff' complete with text and the designers ‘digital bling' (Kidby technical term) have been approved and it won't be long now before the image is released by the publishers.

The 2012 Discworld calendar, which is fully illustrated by myself, is now available for pre-order.

Art of the Imagination will be showing a selection of my artwork and bronzes at Tatton Park Antiques & Fine Art Fair, Cheshire 1st - 3rd April and Harrogate Antiques & Fine Art Fair 28th - 2nd of May.

Galerie Daniel Maghen now has my original paintings and drawings produced for the World of Warcraft trading card game ‘World Breaker' on show along with a selection of other Discworld and Charmed Realm artwork.

I will be getting back to some painting as soon as Pegasus is finished, (once I've finished picking the bits of sculpting material out of the carpet). My plan is to paint Celeste the hare ready for the Best of the Best exhibition at this years Art in Action. I will be demonstrating my techniques in the Illustrators section at this excellent four-day event in July, which celebrates the creative arts in an idyllic Oxfordshire setting.
