This past month I have resisted the lure of the sunshine, (mostly) and our veggie patch is looking a little sorry for itself because I've been so busy at my easel.

The chapter headings for ‘I Shall Wear Midnight' have been completed, and a colour image of a certain small ginger haired fellow painted for the back cover.

I have also now finished the new cover for ‘The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents'. Some of you may remember I started it back in the spring and then had to put it to one side whilst I concentrated on more pressing deadlines.

Eko the elephant moved to Chelsea Hospital Gardens for the herd viewing days. I enjoyed seeing all the elephants together at this event and also took the opportunity to give Eko a general wash and brush up ready for the grand charity auction on July 3rd which I also attended. I am
delighted to report that the closing bid for him was £16,000 which is
great news for the Orangutan Foundation.

I have now said my fond farewells to Eko. The whole project has been such a delight from beginning to end and I am very proud to have been involved in such a inspirational and worthwhile project.

I am now getting ready for this months Art in Action, Waterperry Gardens near Oxford , which is an excellent and dynamic four-day event celebrating the work of artists and craftspeople.

I will be demonstrating in the illustration section for the duration, painting new images for the 2012 Paul Kidby Discworld calendar, and will have a selection of my cards, books and prints for sale. Here is one of the images I will be working on, Rincewind and Conina from ‘Sorcery'.

I have recently spent a morning with my skilled friends at the foundry in Basingstoke where they have been producing the second in the edition of twelve of Atlantia the mermaid who this time has been patinated in a lighter green gold colour graduation. Hats off to all the guys for doing such a great job, and hope the puppies are doing well!

Atlantia will be exhibited over the coming months by my UK dealers, Books Illustrated.

Wishing you all a good month, and thank you for all the words of encouragement I have been receiving, it helps to keep me working hard.
