I have spent most of this month continuing to sculpt the mermaid, ‘Atlantia’. The fishy scales on her tail are the result of many days toil and it will be a relief when she finally arrives safely at the foundry.
Outside of my studio there have been plenty of developments: The exciting launch date of my new book, Le Royaume Enchanté is fast approaching.
An exhibition of illustrations from this book will be on show at the Daniel Maghen Gallery, 47 Quai des Grands Augustins, 75006, Paris on December the 15th, and at another venue from November 24th-December 5th (location to be announced). If you are in the Paris area or making a trip to the city please do make time to visit. The Daniel Maghen Gallery now also has a selection of my original Discworld pencil artwork available. I will be signing copies of Le Royaume Enchanté at Album Bookshop in the heart of the Paris Latin quarter, 84 Bd Saint Germain on Saturday 28th November 15h-18h. I will also be signing at Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse, Montreuil on the 27th and 29th of November. This is a book fair for children and young people and is the most exciting of its kind in France. Times + Offer Win one of 25 signed ‘Evenstar' prints! To celebrate the release of my new book, Le Royaume Enchanté , I have teamed up with The Times newspapers for a special offer. Subscribers to the Times or Sunday Times, and members of Times + can now enter a competition to win a signed ‘Evenstar' print which is the central fold out image from the book.
The football cards have finally made their debut appearance in Wincanton. These are available to buy from the Discworld Emporium.
The American publication, Faerie Magazine has published an eight page feature on my Charmed Realm illustrations.
We have also launched a range of new Charmed Realm bookmarks this month, each one is mat laminated and comes resplendent with gold tassel. These will soon be available on my shop page, and as usual wholesale orders are welcome, please email to enquire.
I would also like to send out apologies to anyone who has tried to purchase a greetings card from the site recently. We have been experiencing some frustrating technical glitches which have now been resolved. I have also had a few signings and ‘meet the artist’ events during the last few weeks, in Salisbury, Ringwood and the Birmingham NEC. It has been great to get out and chat with folks, and I thank everyone for their kind words and on-going support for my work. It really does make it all worthwhile! Last but not least, Eoin Cannon sent me an image of his 3D sculpt of Cohen based on my drawings. I think you will agree it is brilliant! He has kindly given me permission to share it with you.
I wish you all an excellent month, with plenty of porridge to keep out the draughts.
A polite notice – should you require an autograph from me, please send a stamped self addressed envelope to: PAUL KIDBY We still appreciate your feedback - keep it coming in! (info@paulkidby.net)
