News Flash!
For those of you who live in the Wiltshire/Hampshire area you may know that the Salisbury Art Trail is currently in full swing this week. My friends in the newly re-vamped legendary tattoo shop, The Sharp Practice, have given me wall-space to hang a selection of my prints.
I'll be on the premises this Friday the 16th Oct. from 12 noon onwards and you are welcome to drop in to chew the fat and view the artwork.

New Book!
This month sees the start of the countdown to the publication of my brand NEW BOOK, Le Royaume Enchanté. This is the culmination of a collaboration between me, my wife Vanessa and the most enthusiastic and encouraging publishers it has ever been my pleasure to work with, Daniel Maghen. This French publication is a 64 page full colour hardback tome featuring many of my Charmed Realm illustrations, and is jam-packed with new work.
Meanwhile, I am delighted with my new Charmed Realm faerie prints. We have chosen super thick art paper which makes them look mighty fine, and very similar to the actual original. The last few weeks has seen some fishy goings on at the Kidby residence… I am sculpting a mermaid, ‘Atlantia’. For a while now I have had this piece in mind, my aim is to try and capture a feeling of lightness and movement as she swims upwards, twisting though the water. I have spent three weeks modelling her so far, from a simple wire armature to gradually building up her form and anatomy; she is now in the final stages, and I am working on her hair and fishy scales.
Upcoming dates and events: (It’s not often I am persuaded to leave the environs of my studio which makes the next few weeks something of a change for me)
I will be signing all things Discworldian that have been illustrated by me, at my mate Trevor’s bookshop, ‘Paperview’ 5 Christchurch Road, Ringwood, Hampshire BH24 1DG, on the 17th of October from 2pm. Trevor will be exclusively giving away newly published Kidby bookmarks with every sale of ‘Unseen Academicals’, and the freshly released and long awaited Discworld football cards will also be available for sale, alongside my own range of Charmed Realm prints and cards.
On the 31st of October I will be at the Birmingham NEC, ‘Antiques for Everyone’ at a special Kidby exhibition on the Books Illustrated stand. Come and see examples of my original Discworld artwork and have a chat with myself and the incorrigible Cunning Artificer, Bernard Pearson, who will be bringing his own magical waft of tobacco and jollity to the proceedings. I will be a little further afield in November, when I will be signing copies of my new book Le Royaume Enchanté in the heart of the Paris Latin Quarter at ALBUM bookshop, 84 Bd Saint Germain on Saturday 28th November 15h-18hr.
I will also be signing copies of Le Royaume Enchanté at Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse, Montreuil on the 27th and 29th of November, this is a book fair for children and young people and is the most exciting of its kind in France.
I am busy trying to brush up my French…and up my enzymes in readiness…
The Discworld Football cards will be given their first public airing at the Unseen Academicals book launch and Football match in Wincanton on the 10th of October. For more details look on the news page at discworldemporium.com.
